22 Followup

Well, only one person let me know what 22 means to them. Thanks, Chris!

Last Tuesday we had 22 teenagers in youth meeting. This may not seem like a big deal but it's huge to us! Nov. 2005 at our first youth meeting we had 4, 3 of them being our own kids! Now we are running 5 times that!!! Whoo hoooo!

Here's the part that has me concerned. 22 teens are coming to a place where they can socialize (there's NOTHING to do in Harrisville!) and build friendships, etc. While they are together they are hearing the gospel of Jesus. We are telling them Who Jesus is and how He can change their lives. Problem is, teenagers aren't always interested in learning how to change their lives. They live for today. For the now.

So we are rethinking how we need to reach them. Some of them have history in churches. Some have absolutely no understanding of church, the Bible or God. Then you have a few who have way more knowledge and understanding that it is intimidating to their peers.

Let me pose these questions to you.

What do you think the teenagers of the right now would benefit most from?

What can we, as a church, do/provide for them that is most needed at this time?

Feel free to email your responses. (kjknc@yahoo.com) Post them here, if you like. This is open for dialog. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas!
