Thanksgiving Weekend!

Our home has been full of people and activity! Ken's parents, brother Steve and his family were here for for Thanksgiving day. Steve and family left Friday to head home and our dear friends from Michigan, the Shelton Family, arrived! So we currently have Ken's parents and dog, Dusty, Pat Shelton, Rob Shelton and 3 of his children, Amber, Destiny & Ryan. Add that to the original Davis family here and we have a party!

It has snowed! 8 inches and counting! It IS snowing! It's gorgeous! Check these out!

Hope you all had a wonderful holiday! We certainly are!

Thanksgiving Week

We had the Harrisville Community Thanksgiving Service at our church tonight. It was a good time! It can't believe it's Thanksgiving time! And soon will be Christmas!

We have come up with names for the children's and youth ministries at East Picairn Wesleyan. Using the common thread of wanting to make an impact on our community on all levels, we present the following:

IMPACT Youth Ministry

K.I.D.S. Ministry

IMPACT has been meeting for a few weeks on Tuesdays. Our numbers are very small but we have a great time.

We are having children come with friends each Sunday. We are dividing Sunday School a bit more so that we can encourage more to come! Things are really happening! We have our bumps in the road now and then, but overall, we are on the same path heading for the same goal: to impact the lives of those around us for Christ! His kingdom will grow!

They are calling for snow this week. We pray that it will hold off until Ken's folks and brother's family arrive Wednesday. I don't want them to not be able to get here!

The week will be busy. If I don't get to tell you on Thursday, please know that we wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

School Pictures

Nathan and Cressalyn had their school pictures done in early October. But the guy who did them didn't do a good job. Both kids said they weren't given time to be ready and were told not to smile. So both pictures turned out poorly. Their faces were contorted! What a shame! And to the turn of $29.75 each! So we waited for word about retake day.

We got a call that not enough people wanted retakes so we would have to settle for a refund. Ok. We got the refunds this week. Tonight we went into "town"...Watertown...and took Nathan to Olan Mills and Cressalyn to WalMart. Why couldn't we do them both at one? Glad you asked! Only one package per family per month can be purchased at each place! Ugh! So to get the best deal we had to either wait a month to do one of them or divide and conquer. So that's what we did.

Here's what we found: WalMart has the better deal! For $13.88 including tax we got nearly 3 times the amount of pictures as we did from Olan Mills! OM was $6.95 plus shipping and tax for $12.76. Note to self and everyone else, WalMart does a good job for a good price!

Now we have friends who's livelihood is totally dependent on KMart (Olan Mills is inside KMart.) So to know that we would support WalMart sends them into cardiac arrest. So don't tell them!

Cressalyn wore makeup for the first time today! It was a great time between mother and daughter as the first makeup lesson was given. The father is still having some difficulty with this fact that his baby girl is a young woman.

The kids are heading Boston for Logos5 this December for the youth convention. They are doing several fund-raisers. Nathan helped move 4 truckloads of firewood today. Kenny is collecting bottles and cans from the community to be redeemed at the Redemption Center...where he works. Cressalyn is looking for a baby-sitting gig or other type of work. Please pray that all the funds needed come in! This is always a special time in the life of a teen and we want to see all 3 go!

Write us! We will do our best to respond asap. I know I haven't responded to some as quickly as I should. Life gets busy! Yeah, that's a good excuse! It takes SSOOOOO long to write an email! Forgive me if I haven't responded to you yet! I will!

Love you all! Have a blessed Sunday!

Florida!

Well, 1388 miles in 23.5 driving hours, Monday - Wednesday. Whew! We had a good trip and made it safely! The weather was fabulous! I was then able to change my flight arrangements and got home Thursday afternoon in time for the kids' concert at school! That was a treat, as well.

Someone needs to remind me next time I go to Florida that there are lizards! I know they are little gecko ones, but still! A little reminder would have been nice! Ugh!

We begin our ladies bible study tomorrow morning at 10 AM. We are doing "Breaking Free" by Beth Moore. It's a wonderful study! I've been through it and know the ladies who participate will benefit from it, too! Pray that we have ladies come! I know of one who will be there. There are others who need to be but haven't said they will. I am praying for them!
