Sickness
Well, Christmas Day all 15 of us were together. Kenny headed for home Tuesday. Then the 14 of us were together for James' 15th birthday party. Around midnight, after all had returned to their respective lodging arrangments, it began.
It started with Nathan. By Wednesday morning Mom/Mamaw/Grawny was sick. Judy was sick. Marilyn was sick. James was sick. By Wednesday night...Steve was sick. By Thursday morning....Cressalyn was sick.
And a joyful Happy Holiday time to all!

IMPACT Youth Christmas Party
Tonight 21 teens, 3 adults and a baby had a blast eating, talking, packing treat bags, and listening to the Christmas Story. Here are some pictorial highlights! (MaryBeth, hope you feel better quick! We missed you!)
Sasha loved the kids, but really was concerned about the crowd and the noise!
Matt & Nathan messing around.
Kenny is home from SWU and brought with him some SWU items that he was able to give out!
The girls did the decorating, the guys did the filling of the treat bags. We will be sharing them with the community servants of our area.

22 Followup
Well, only one person let me know what 22 means to them. Thanks, Chris!
Last Tuesday we had 22 teenagers in youth meeting. This may not seem like a big deal but it's huge to us! Nov. 2005 at our first youth meeting we had 4, 3 of them being our own kids! Now we are running 5 times that!!! Whoo hoooo!
Here's the part that has me concerned. 22 teens are coming to a place where they can socialize (there's NOTHING to do in Harrisville!) and build friendships, etc. While they are together they are hearing the gospel of Jesus. We are telling them Who Jesus is and how He can change their lives. Problem is, teenagers aren't always interested in learning how to change their lives. They live for today. For the now.
So we are rethinking how we need to reach them. Some of them have history in churches. Some have absolutely no understanding of church, the Bible or God. Then you have a few who have way more knowledge and understanding that it is intimidating to their peers.
Let me pose these questions to you.
What do you think the teenagers of the right now would benefit most from?
What can we, as a church, do/provide for them that is most needed at this time?
Feel free to email your responses. (kjknc@yahoo.com) Post them here, if you like. This is open for dialog. We look forward to hearing your thoughts and ideas!

Jan Hamilton
Today we celebrated the life of a dear lady. Jan Hamilton's earthly body has been laid to rest. Jan is now in the arms of her Savior. We mourn for our loss, but rejoice in her joy! More than that, we eagerly look forward to the day when we will join her in Glory!

December 6, 1932
74 years ago, the man who was my first love, was born. My father, Jim Sheets, celebrated the day with his wife, my mother, who took him to a "quaint" Italian restaurant for lunch.
Paul, the eldest of the Sheets children, had a great idea of sending Dad a card that all 3 of us had signed. So he purchased one, signed it, and mailed it in a separate envelope to David.
David signed the card, then addressed the envelope of the card, placed a stamp on it and forwarded it on to me.
When I received it Monday afternoon I knew that mailing it Tuesday wouldn't be enough time to get the card to Dad by Wednesday. So I signed the card and placed the card, its envelope complete with stamp, into an overnight postage mailer and sent it to NC via the Post Office "red-eye." (actually my hubby did the mailing.)
So Dad received the card today on his birthday. Paul came up with the idea. David assisted in the process. I insured it's timely arrival. Our gift to our Dad.
But wait! There's more! I set up a conference call for all 4 of us for 9 PM tonight! So we all dialed in and had nearly an hour of fun conversation with each other! It was a blast! I am part of a wacky family!
Thank you, Dad, for being our Dad! Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a Dad! Thank you for loving us! Thank you for loving Mom in front of us! Thank you for teaching us to love God!
